The purpose of Unit 5 is to learn how the cost of capital is developed for use in capital budgeting. We observe that the cost of capital used is a weighted average of the types of capital the firm uses-- typically debt, preferred stock, and common equity. Unit 5 also describes techniques used in capital budgeting analysis. We learn that NPV, net present value, is the best capital budgeting decision rule used by most firms. The format for the article review including length, references, and layout is discussed on the following pages. To complete the article review, you should research the assigned topic to provide a measure of information about the topic?s significance to the current business climate regarding financial management. References Remember that reference sources must be limited to the:Wall Street Journal, Financial Times, New York Times, Barron?s, Investors? Business Daily, The Economist, or an academic journal article from a respected finance journal. These resources are available in the Kaplan University library.
